Several weeks ago, ok, more like 2 months ago, I made some petit fours for my friend's mom to take to a baby shower. I've finally recovered from the ordeal and can talk about them without hatred now. (What a pain!) The ladies at Bakerella and VeganYumYum have written lovely, detailed posts about the process of making petit fours, so I won't go into detail, since I pretty much did exactly as they did. Mine were filled with buttercream rather than jam, though.
Since I didn't have anywhere to get marzipan, I blanched, peeled and ground some almonds and made my own almond paste using the first recipe on this page, minus the rosewater. Then I kneaded in powdered sugar to make it into marzipan. I have to admit, I thought that part was kind of fun. I didn't realize just how much it would make though, obviously, since I ended up with almost 4 pounds of it!
So anyway, here's a picture of the finished petit fours.
I hope y'all have a great day!

those petit fours are adorable - however i can see how they would be a pain in the arse to make!
So cute! Petit fours always taste so good!
Oh man, do I want some now!
Was the marzipan good? I imagine it to be quite yummy.
I am sitting here drinking my morning coffee and thinking I could eat about five of those delicous looking morsels of goodness! I LOVE petit fours!
Those turned out great! My uncle makes them (he and my aunt used to do catering) and he even said they were such a pain! LOL! These are fantastic, though! You should be proud!
