Book Meme

Carrie at Confessions tagged me for this book meme. Sorry I'm a little late getting to it.

The Rules:
* Grab the nearest book.
* Open the book to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your blog along with these instructions.
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one, pick the CLOSEST.
* Tag five other people to do the same.

Okay, the book closest to me is the most recent one I read. I read this because it was supposed to be some great literary work by a Nobel-prize winning author. And it was referenced in High Fidelity and Serendipity. It was okay.

Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
p. 56
But the old families, ruined by Independence, had to submit to the realities of a new time, and the Academy opened its doors to all applicants who could pay the tuition, regardless of the color of their blood, on the essential condition that they were legitimate daughters of Catholic marriages. In any event, it was an expensive school, and the fact that Fermina Daza studied there was a sufficient indication of her family's economic situation, if not of its social position. This news encouraged Florentino Ariza, since it indicated to him that the beautiful adolescent with the almond-shaped eyes was within reach of his dreams.

I tag these folks:
Tassie at Tassie and her Random Thoughts
Jackie at Empty Nest Full Life
Madeline at My Boy and Me
Amy at In My Life
Jenn at I Hate Whine

I know that all of you ladies lead very busy lives, so if you can't get to it, I understand. I just picked y'all cause you were the last five people to leave me a comment that hadn't done it. Ha. That'll show you to leave comments. Just kidding, just kidding, please keep leaving them, it's nice to know I'm not just rambling to myself...

*Edit* If I didn't tag you and you would like to do it, please do. It's always fun to see what other people are reading.

Hi, I just saw the post...I will try to do the tag soon, and I'll let you know when it's up.

I had not heard of the book that you had near you.

I have so many books laying around the house, I'm almost afraid to do this. LOL!;)

God Bless,
Amy:)
